cant get maxima to run on new computer #2004

hope someone can help got a new computer and have installed maxima version 5.47.0 but cannot get it to work.

maxima and xmaxima is working but not communication with wxmaxima.

i have selected SBCL but still have a computer icon bottom right with a red X

i have checked the permissions all done under firewall and virus protetion (i think)

at present i only use microsoft security supplied with window.

would like to get this working great program and enjoy using it for the OU

any help would be appreciated

@jocks35 Sorry to hear you are running into problems, and thanks for your interest in Maxima and wxMaxima. You might consider obtaining a nightly build (i.e. one created from the current version of the code every night) from: https://wolfgang.dautermann.at/maxima/nightlybuild/ .

The 5.47.0 release is somewhat old (almost 2 years at this point) and there have been many changes in the meantime. We are working on a new release (5.48), but until it is completed, perhaps the nightly build is worth a try.

Does the computer give any hint on what might have gone wrong? In the menus you can tell wxMaxima to show the log sidebar. With a bit of luck it contains enough information to allow to find out where the issue lies.
