'Buffer size' showing up empty in Preferences

Description with steps to reproduce

1. Open Preferences
2. Go to Audio & MIDI
3. See that the 'Buffer size' dropdown is empty

Clicking it reveals the three buffer options, which persist once settings are saved.

In versions 4.3.2 and below, when I click the dropdown, no dropdown options come up at all.

I reset my preferences before checking this. I can't tell if it's a regression only in the Nightly builds or also in 4.5.1 because it seems to have broken in every version I open.

@avvvvve I can't reproduce it on my side (4.6 nightly, Mac13.7.2)

Maybe, switching between different audio devices is involved..
