os-unifi-maxit broken SSID with special chars

os-unifi7-maxit worked with special chars. Just updated to os-unifi-maxit 8 and despite showing special chars in the admin interface, the broadcasted SSID is with ?'s replacing all the special chars.

interestingly enough, someone else had the same exact issue 5 years ago https://www.reddit.com/r/Ubiquiti/comments/c3pbq5/emoji_in_unifi_ssids_turn_to_question_marks/ but it's been working for the past few years. Now I'm not sure if Unifi 8 had a regression or if it's os-unifi-maxit.

It seems like it works for other self-hosted unifi, tested on:

8.2.93
8.1.127

Is there any plan to upgrade the unifi controller version to 8.2.93 in os.unifi.maxit?

Also, could you share where the os-unifi-maxit repo is? Would love to dig in myself assuming that it's open source
