After installing from Ubuntu Software, and trying to hit the Launch button: "Something went wrong, Desktop file didn't specify exec field."

Went into terminal and tried to run it:

libGL error: MESA-LOADER: failed to retrieve device information
libGL error: Version 4 or later of flush extension not found
libGL error: failed to load driver: i915
libGL error: MESA-LOADER: failed to retrieve device information
shm_open() failed: Permission denied
ALSA lib conf.c:3750:(snd_config_update_r) Cannot access file /usr/share/alsa/alsa.conf
ALSA lib pcm.c:2266:(snd_pcm_open_noupdate) Unknown PCM default
[WARNING] Could not open audio device
intel_do_flush_locked failed: Input/output error

This was on real hardware, not on a VM

I just updated the snap. No code changes or anything but the dependencies should be a bit more fresh. Can you check if that fixed it?

Hi! I've only just discovered this project, and I'm also encountering the same issue with the Snap distribution on Ubuntu 19.10.

Does it work when you apt install klystrack?

hi @alexmyczko

I have tried it on ubuntu 20.04 and the snap now opens but no sound will play, here is what i get when opening through terminal

libGL error: MESA-LOADER: failed to retrieve device information
libGL error: Version 4 or later of flush extension not found
libGL error: failed to load driver: i915
shm_open() failed: Permission denied
ALSA lib conf.c:3750:(snd_config_update_r) Cannot access file /usr/share/alsa/alsa.conf
ALSA lib pcm.c:2266:(snd_pcm_open_noupdate) Unknown PCM default
[WARNING] Could not open audio device
[WARNING] Could not write config (~/.klystrack)
[WARNING] Could not write favorites (/home/kain/.klystrackfavorites)
[WARNING] Could not save recent files list

now you asked if apt install klystrack and yes, sound works as it should is just the snap that is faulty. If you go to the ubuntu app store you will see several people having the same issues.

Hope this info has helped.

@kaincenteno I'm sorry I only feel responsible for the debian package, it works, use it? Why do you need the snap?

The use a non-public bug tracking system, here:
https://snapcraft.io/klystrack
at the very bottom.

Where can I see several people having the same issues? With SNAP? I prefer the debian package, the debian source package, and then the source.

I moved away from Microsoft Windows 1999 because of things like SNAPS (stuff without source), there's nothing getting me to use non-free binary software again, I'm sorry.

The comments are inside the ubuntu software app:

I know. I understand the deb works great but if the snap is not working then it should be removed and replaced with the deb package.

i'm not the authority of snap, thus i can't remove it there, nor snap. but i agree if i had a button to do whatever i wan't, i'd wish several more buttons that remove snap (one of many things i'd get rid of ;)
