Demo on front page should be text

Hi, I'm a new user trying to move over from asdf, so there might be better documentation I just haven't found now, but wanted to share a frustration that could be a point of friction for new users. (Or at least it was for this new user.)

The animated gif in the README is cute, but there's a lot of useful information that goes by faster than one can actually follow, and you can't scroll up to see things that have gone off screen. Because it's a gif instead of a video, you also can't pause, rewind, or seek. I actually like the gif and wouldn't want it removed, but the same information should be readily available in text form somewhere on the front page. The examples below are pretty sparse in comparison.
