Correct REGEXP for both 2.2 & 2.4 is:
ZBX_RESP_REGEX = r'processed: (\d+); failed: (\d+); total: (\d+); seconds spent: (\d\.\d+)'

Check wether it's the same with Zabbix 2.0 or not. Could be:
ZBX_RESP_REGEX = r'Processed (\d+) Failed (\d+) Total (\d+) Seconds spent (\d\.\d+)'

OK. Checked. Strings are different between 2.0 & 2.4.

Will fix this ASAP
