I recently had problems with papercite not refreshing the cache. When I make changes to my .bib file, nothing will change on my website. Before, I was able to simply delete the papercite/cache/* file and all would be good, however this file does not seem to exist anymore.

Any of the following does not help:

  • Selecting "clear cache" in the papercite plugin settings.
  • Deactivating and reactivating papercite.
  • Uninstalling and reinstalling papercite.
  • Manually dropping the tables "main_plugin_papercite" and "main_plugin_papercite_url", and deleting "papercite_db_version" and "papercite_options" from the table "main_options".

The only trick that seems to reliably fix the issue is to rename the .bib file and then refresh papercite. However, this should be a new name, simply renaming back and forth between two options does not work either. Somehow there seem to be persistent cache files that I cannot locate.

Any idea?

Wordpress 4.9.7 with papercite 0.5.18.

Same thing here but only when I'm using an external link for the BibTeX file e.g BibSonomy.
Any news on that issue?

Please note that I am not developing the plugin anymore, and am looking for somebody to take over (I am not using WordPress anymore)

Don't know if that helps others with that problem (using an external link) but I changed the Default timeout to reload pages from 3600 to just 3 and now it gets the updates instantly.
